Welcome to SPARKS, the elementary school theater and vocal training program at Ignite The Light — proudly serving young performers in Loudoun County from Kindergarten through 5th grade (rising Kindergarten through rising 6th for summer program).

SPARKS is where creativity starts to take root. Whether your child is brand new to the stage or already belting show tunes in the back seat of the car, this program gives them a chance to explore the world of musical theater in a fun, welcoming environment. We’ve built a space where beginners can feel comfortable, and passionate young performers can stretch their wings.

Our program focuses on the essentials of musical theater performance — voice, movement, acting, and storytelling — all tailored to fit the energy and developmental stage of elementary-aged kids. Over the course of the session, students work together to build a full-scale staged production, learning the ropes one step at a time. From the first read-through to the final bow, every student has a part to play.

But SPARKS isn’t just about learning lines and hitting high notes. It’s also about building confidence, understanding teamwork, and learning how to listen, collaborate, and communicate. Theater teaches life skills that go far beyond the stage. (Not to mention, it’s a great way to burn off a little energy after school.)

Rehearsals for SPARKS take place on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, with extra technical rehearsals added as we approach showtime. This gives students time to grow their skills gradually, while still maintaining a healthy balance with school and other activities. It’s structured, but never stuffy — and always centered around the joy of performing.

We’ve seen time and time again how this program sparks something special in kids. Whether it’s the thrill of hearing applause for the first time, the pride of memorizing their lines, or just the joy of making new friends, SPARKS is full of unforgettable moments.
